"Andy Considine is also out of contract but will trigger a clause in his deal that keeps him at the club for next season while also discussing a new one."

Just read this. So even though he has no contract he will get a contract

That will entice supporters to purchase new season tickets

If I'm honest I've no problem with that as long as he is used primarily for cover and spends most of his time on the bench. Not bad cover really to fill in a couple games when our new left back gets injured.

The problem is though that he'll most likely be a regular starter next season too as DM has a complete boner for the boy for some reason - he likes his "size" is one of the reasons I've seen.

Given the huge turnover of players we're facing this summer, DM is bound to see Considine as a quick and easy fix for either Centre Half or Left Back to give him one less position to have to worry about.

Depressingly, I'm fairly sure we are guaranteed another season of the big oaf lumbering up and down the left hand side.

The really worrying thing is the article refers to him discussing the length of the contract

He's entitled to a one year extension apparently, but that sentence tells me he wants longer, & I wouldn't put it past DM to give him longer.

I think I'll lose the will to live with AFC if he gets another 2-3 years - what a horrific thought

Can't argue with any of that Moog.

I don't think there has been much games where Considine himself has been sh*te. It has always been when the team as a whole aren't performing. The problem is he, being a more experienced player shouldn't be making those mistakes whether the team is playing crap or not.

I'd like to see us get a decent left back in with him as cover but seen as the funds are non existent we probably will be stuck with him as a first pick.

He`s a Centre Half , who has filled in without complaint anywhere DMcC has asked him to . Currently he`s coping at Right Centre. Even though he is a Leftie. ?

IF McKenna goes, there he is , as a safe and cheap stand in at Left Centre Half ? Although with the unanswered question over Devlins current fitness level ( ? ) He may well be required on the right again too.

Shaugnessy hasn`t been confirmed yet . So I`d say we definitely need an honest reliable and LOYAL player like Consodine. Sure you can all bleat on about how you want better , his "brainfarts " and that he is holding back the team . and how I must be a Happy Clapper , and settling for Considne is settling for 3rd postion an occassional Cup final and ongoing averageness ..........
But come on , He`s one of our own. nobody gets left behind !!! COYR.

Well naebody can accuse Consi of being a hun.

I’m not saying he’s the most talented member of the squad ( he might be by the end of May) but he’s certainly been the most loyal.
Played out of position most of his career, I wouldn’t grudge him a couple of seasons as our left sided centre half.

Of course if the new Miller and McLeish are available then it’s the bench for you Consi min.
