I also served. I won 2nd place in the 1st Daviot/Oldmeldrum scout troop air rifle competition, I may have mentioned it once or twice on here. The prize was a shot at the 'jungle' section.

I'm not afraid to admit I bottled it. I couldn't spot any of the targets that were set up in the bushes and I missed the eagles nest with my dummy grenade. I also got in trouble for forgetting to lower my weapon when speaking to the instructor.

The Royal Marines are great. 32 weeks intensive training at Lympstone, producing some of the finest trombonists in the world. Many of which go on to a successful career in the Sally Army afterwards.
