Pretty sure Alex Smith was the first Dons manager to get the sack. Seem to recall Dick Donald saying he was very reluctant to do it (hence his p1ssed off expression in the photo), but that he felt there was no other alternative due to the club's poor form (with what was a very decent squad) and mounting pressure from the fans, who were by now used to winning more than the odd cup or two of a season.
Certainly the first time I can recall seeing our fans demonstrating after a game and calling for the manager to get the bullet...........or did I just imagine all that?
SMITH OUT
I don't think Dick Donald was the full shilling then.
Decision taken by Ian Donald
Dick was less than pleased but as chairman had to be trundled out ror the photo.
To be fair, Celtic had a training ground as far back as 1960.
Training grounds only really became fashionable in the 90s.
Since then, Milne has somehow allowed Pittodrie to become a death trap.
I know you aren't sticking up for him but he's an absolute shambles of a chairman. As backwards minded as they come. His only achievement is to not have us going into administration.
Not sure what his other qualities are that afc1903mad thinks he has. Neither does he though.
