Being a parent isn’t always easy but there seems to have been an abdication of parental responsibility in all too many of these cases.
RA yes the family well the three girls who went They stole family jewelery to pay for their affairs The three had been questioned by the Met police 6mts before they flew from Gatwick to Istanbul One of the girls father was a right hand man of Anjem Choudray so I would have thought he had a good idea what was going on Anyway the law states anyone who joins, assists, any terrorist organisation should face the full force of the law

Easy answer, as totally unacceptable as it is, they get away with grooming because nobody wants to be accused of racism for mentioning or investigating it.

    Makes my blood boil.

As you know I wholeheartedly condemn all those involved in ‘grooming gangs’...I also condemn those who, misguidedly rather than maliciously, sought to divert attention away from the problem...on top of which I also have a professional ‘take’ on what was happening which I suspect you don’t.
Someone else brought up the matter of parental reaction and my simple point is that...there is a degree of irony involved in my suspicion that in both the case of Shamima Begum and the majority of the grooming gang’s victims there is likely to be a similar degree of parental incompetence and abdication of responsibility involved.
apologies. its a real sore point

Ancient history ‘Amster...you’d be right in what you say...if you were talking about the first dozen or so years of the century.
Things have changed over here and child abuse makes all decent thinking folk’s ‘blood boil’, but it has never been the sole preserve of the ‘grooming gangs’.
There are plenty of establishment figures who are just as culpable. Savile was the tip of a very, very unpleasant iceberg while his unlikely friendship with Thatcher and a number of her political allies has never received the attention it deserves. Heath (possibly), Smith and Janner - to name but three (with political impartiality) took years to be exposed even to the extent that they have.
I’m no ‘apologist’ for anyone and I loath terrorists and those who abuse the vulnerable equally, but it is interesting how much more media attention has been spent on exposing the - largely poor Asian - grooming gangs in comparison to the - largely white and wealthy - establishment abusers.

Not arguing with you rA. Quite the opposite. My little rant aimed at the mainly Asian grooming gangs and the freedom that PC had allowed them was my thoughts on just those 2 things and because someone had mentioned both in an earlier post in this thread.

All other pedophiles should also be hit with the full force of the Law. Be they famous DJs, politicians, sports people or, as some have suggested, Royals. Nobody should be above the Law and that Law should be used forcefully regardless of who the victim is or who the accused perpetrator is. I believe it used to be called Equal Justice For All.
