I don’t think there will be any mucking about with the identity of who is captain next season. Scott Brown will be the captain. I would imagine he will play most weeks also. Like it or not, the club will look stronger with Scott Brown as captain.
How can you be coach AND captain?
Nah, that would be a big mistake.
We’re going to be a youth based side.
Of course we will always need a couple of old heads, but predominantly youth based.
It’s the only way forward for Aberdeen Football Club.
It’s the future and it’s a future I am looking forward to.
To begin by making Scott Brown captain wouldn’t be right.
I don’t think it would be a disaster but surely he doesn’t need to be captain, I hope he’s big enough to see that.
He’s done the captain thing, it’s his past, it’s the future we’re looking at.
Sorry for the enthusiasm, it’s early in the morning, it won’t last.
I think he knows that precisely. He understands the importance of having the right captain. The management team have to trust the captain and know that he has the right level of respect, and influence, in the dressing room along with the other senior pros. They also need him to be a link to the coaching team, where his opinion is heard, at the same time as being trusted by the squad who know he ultimately has their backs. Brown carried this role out at Celtic, let’s be honest, very well. He, more than anyone, will know that you can’t have a captain who is also part of the management team. It would be the perfect way to piss off the squad straight away and cause a lack of trust in the players.
If he stays my money would be on Ferguson as captain next season.
100% won’t be Brown.
