Thread: Steven Defour

    Steven Defour

I've just been reading another one of Dyche's recent interviews about how we need to manage him carefully etc etc.

I'm sorry but, as far as I am concerned its time to stop ***** footing around this lad and cut him loose if he hasn't got the professionalism to graft his way back to full fitness. Lets have it right, he hasn't been 100% fit since the day we signed him, for my liking it just looks to me that he just hasn't got the right attitude for a professional athlete. Most would have been back to full fitness ages ago.

I dont really like how we seem to be noncing around with him. Surely at some point the club has to get to business with Defour, by saying that he either gets fit, or your gone.

IMHO it's time he did the decent thing and retire and piss off back to Belgium. He's picking up £30k a week for doing the square root of phuck all and I'm amazed SD is letting him get away with it.

Have we got a replacement of the same calibre?
For all his effort Westwood is not fit to tie his boots.Hopeless Hendrick and Broken Brady are not much better either.

Bloody Eire players qualify as foreigners to me too. Defour might be a top quality player, but that's no use whatsoever if he can't bloody play! At least Hendo can bend down and lace his boots!

You either trust Sean or you don't.

Defour is obviously still in his first team plans and he seems confident that he can regain his fitness.

I have to say though, he is taking a long time to recover.

Fingers crossed, we could still enjoy watching a class act here for a few more seasons if he finally gets himself right.

    Absolutely no chance!

Never been fully fit since long before he arrived at the Turf but to say its his attitude or he is that unprofessional he doesn't want to get fit is just not right, I'm sure he would much prefer to be playing 38 games a season than spend it on the treatment table. We don't know the extent of the injuries he has had previously but its pretty obviously he will never be fully over them.
Bringing him in was a gamble on a very good player who if it wasn't for injuries early in his career wouldn't be anywhere near Burnley unfortunately it hasn't paid off, file under Darren Anderton look for a replacement and consider any minutes we get out of him until his contract expires as a bonus.

Sorry Whitty, we just can't afford to wait. We need to cancel his contract and bring in a replacement ASAP!
