Yeah, I take your point, perhaps I was being over simplistic and general with what I said, so apologies. Not all of that generation were so lucky but I sure as heck wouldn't want to be a youngun now coming out of college trying to get on the property ladder.

...do you catch my drift as a whole though?

    Tell me about it.

I work and my wife works (albit is on maternity leave at the minute) and we have absolutely **** all chance of getting on the property ladder.

If i'm lucky i'm not at the end of my overdraft by the time the next pay cheque comes in.

hmmm I've worked for a living all my life..... and continue to do so , although well past retirement age - I can't live on the pension alone

and there are millions more like me now - and in the future who will have to work until the day they are carted off to the loony bin or the morgue - whichever comes first .

tories are not the saviours of the ordinary working person

That's a 'kin grind man, they used to say that hard work always pays off but obviously not in all cases. Hope things pick up for you.

True and it’s getting harder and harder to get on the property ladder. There is the Home Buyer Loan Scheme where you need to put down (only!) 5% of the property value as a deposit and the government loan you (at a cheap interest rate) 20% of the value of the property. This applied to new builds only and will soon apply to first time buyers only too.
