    Another rumour bites the dust.

Joe Hart gone to Tottenham as third choice.
Were we ever actually in contention, or was it just more DT make believe from a ‘paper’ that now suggests Cocu is in the running for the NL job?

Come back Gerald Mortimer...he may have looked like an undertaker but at least he knew what was going on.

Never in contention rA, it was just hes a free agent so link him with Derby! I couldn't see how we would afford the wages he would want, nor why he would come to Derby and that was obvious when West Brom's interest cooled over a week ago which they said was due to his wage demands. If they couldn't afford him then how could we?

Never thought it was a good idea anyway, under FFP we'd be pissing a fair chunk of the wage bill on one player, could most likely get 4 or so good championship players in for the same amount!

True enough. Just seems there’re a few on here more ’itk’ than the DT these days.

It's easy to be "itk" after the news has been announced

To me there’s an easy way of avoiding spending ridiculous money on a greedy keeper - buy better defenders.

Andy...... surely, you're not suggesting e buy defenders who can actually DEFEND are you?

Full backs who can stop crosses coming in?

CHs who can tackle, head and, a la Mac and Toddo can play the ball out from the back?

    If only.............

Maybe we could just play rush goalies and thus have a 5th defender available

It’s a forlorn hope. It seems modern managers have an obsession with all the things defenders/keepers used to have way down on their CV.

I am a very infrequent watcher of any footy that’s not Derby, but Where I’ve been in the last few weeks it’s been wall to wall euro footy in all the eateries I’ve been in, and there’s something I’ve noticed - it’s not just Derby who are encouraged way beyond their abilities to play out from the back, any number of the teams I’ve watched have been embarrassed time and again by an opposition that have ‘worked them out’ and push hard up against them. The previous luxury of tippy tappy anywhere in your own half is gradually being compressed so only the last 20 or so yards are available - maybe I just saw unrepresentative games but so many ‘footballing’ defenders seemed to be exposed

    I thought we had been.

But seriously...I can think of approaching twenty players the DT have linked us with since May and it all seems to have been nonsense.

Latest rumours...Cocu to the Dutch national team, a friendly against Peterborough (make of that what you will) and a £30m or $30m or £15m - depending on which day of the week it is - loan from Michael Dell.

    We’ll see.
