    Woking Game Postponed?

Is it likely that the Woking game will be postponed at the weekend due to the weather, and if so what time do you think it will be called off?

If the game is postponed that will leave us with a real backlog of fixtures and could dent our promotion chances.

Man City called their game off last Sunday "in the interests of supporter and staff safety" rather than a waterlogged pitch, the decision being taken by a safety officer and not the referee. How times change! The forecast doesn't look good but with it being a few days away, I guess it could arrive a few hours later.

Curiously Man Utd's new signing is training alone for now due to fears of the Corona Virus. If that takes hold of Britain, could we see mass postponements for that? I think there was a flu epidemic in December 1969 which caused a lot of cancellations, including our game at Grimsby Town, so it wouldn't be without precedence.

Wind and rain in the UK in winter shock! That’s the headlines that will be coming soon.

It’s possible that the game maybe called off but it should only be called off if we get that much rain prior to the match that the pitch becomes waterlogged. By waterlogged I mean standing water and puddles as well that stops the ball moving properly in numerous places on the pitch

It’s not like it’s icy, snowing or anything like that.? I do think our weather forecasts are sometimes sensationalised certainly by the media and calling these storms names is just copying the US with their hurricanes. We have nothing compared to those in the UK even last weekend.

No doubt we will get an “artic blast“ soon where temperatures will drop to -10 degC. No what it will be is winter weather that was once deemed normal and it will mean a few cm of snow and it will drop a few degrees below freezing in most places apart from remote parts of Scotland where it could drop to double figures below 0.

Let’s get outside and play football and go out and watch our team as football should be played on a Saturday afternoon in the UK in winter.

The BBC forecast for Saturday afternoon has changed from strong winds and heavy rain to strong winds and light rain showers.

That'll be heavy snow again or unseasonably hot.

Apparently highly unlikely unless as mentioned above there is a crazy deluge of rain prior to kick off leading to a waterlogged pitch....

    Statement from the club:

Despite the imminent arrival of Storm Dennis, we are very confident that Saturday’s Vanarama National League match against Woking will go ahead.

Groundstaff have prepared the pitch in anticipation of rain and the necessary checks have been made to ensure the stadium is prepared to deal with the forecasted high winds.

We will be monitoring the situation closely and should our stance change we will notify supporters immediately.

If you’re attending the match, please allow extra travel time for potential disruption caused by the weather and the Clifton Bridge closure on the A52.

So if we win today we could be fifth - or sixth if Bromley win. Bromley haven't won since New Year's day.
