Oh dear! Will I dig out my trainers?
Oh dear! Will I dig out my trainers?
Without wanting to be melodramatic, SOMEONE HAND ME THE PANIC BUTTON!
Ach, it's not going to be an awful season but it certainly looks like the chance of something decent will fizzle out. The bad run against tough opponents is survivable if you make it up against the dross...scoring goals was hard enough without Long, if we're relying on Watt given his (literal) shape we will not be beating St Mirren or Accies in the league and you wouldn't fancy us in the cup either.
This is a hammer blow to our hopes of a good Cup run and a good league finish. It's obviously bad luck and you can't do much about players picking up injuries but this is when our transfer business over the past few windows really bites us, because we have no adequate cover up front to fill the gaps caused by these absences.
The @rse is well and truly falling out of the season for us and I expect us to be out of the Cup by the end of play on Tuesday.
In fairness, even if we had a good squad we would struggle to cover three players from one area being out at the same time. We just can't do it beyond make do and mend, and it's bad luck if it happens before winnable/important games as opposed to those we don't mind losing.
Play Aarons in the middle with Watt. Two up by half time then pack the defence. Simple
Let's recap Robinson forward position aquisitions for season 2019/20 .. Cole, Manzinga, Iilic, Hylton, Seedorf, Aarons, Ndjoii and
now Watt. Do any of those mentioned fill you with confidence could be the answer. TBH I don’t rate Long highly but our ONLY option.
Damage was done the summer 2019 - Robinson’s venture into the market for forwards is woeful and we have team full of pheckin wide palyers who are Tommy Tank.
The season is over already lucky we have accumulated the points we have as don’t see us finishing in top six. After split we will just have to grind out results from somewhere. Either that or Robinson has to make sure the forwards he signed now know their time at Motherwell is on the line and they have to show why they were signed, tall order IMO
Yes, we're having bad luck with injuries at a crucial time but our transfer policy this season is now showing critical flaws as far as the strikers go.
We can't afford to sit back tomorrow as we're simply not good enough to keep teams out. Lets make our mistakes on the halfway line not in the penalty box.
Things are that bad, why not throw Hartley up front with Watt and fire high balls in all day long like other teams have done against us this season. Any chances we get tomorrow must be taken.
He'd be better up front than at the back going on recent performances !!
