Barnsley FC Academy Chief Operations OfficerA

A little late I know but may I congratulate Melissa Terry on being appointed Chief Operations Officer at Barnsley FC Academy just before Christmas. I must have missed the announcement on the BFC Website or indeed the advert, person specification, salary,application/ interview process prior to the appointment. The role is apparently to take the administrative weight of running the Academy off Martin Devaney's shoulders.

Melissa is described on her Linkedln account as having "a decade of experience in collegiate and professional sport specialising in player management, performance enhancement, recovery and regeneration strategies, return to play and developing annual tactical periodization modules."

Previously Melissa was employed as Performance Manager at Real Salt Lake FC, which must be a hot bed of talent as our new Company Secretary and indeed our new CEO Dane Murphy also worked there. It is understood Dane and Melissa are, coincidently, man and wife.

Melissa set up D & M Football Consultants based in South Yorkshire in April though it is not clear what the "D" and"M" stand for.

Again congratulations to Melissa on obtaining the role against what must have been strong competition especially following a period of cutbacks elsewhere in the non-playing staff. May I wish Dane continued success in his CEO role and Melissa every good luck in her new role at the club.

(Can't edit title but ignore the rogue A at the end)

    Au contraire Ponte.

I find it heartwarming that a man and his partner/ woman and her partner are both able to contribute their skills in order to develop Barnsley FC.

Please tell me this is a joke? If not how apt that no announcement was made detailing how she is a "significant upgrade" from the person who did the job previously (the invisible man) and we've secured her on a long term deal :-)

It is true that no one performed this role before Melissa's arrival but it clearly must be a very important role or it wouldn't have been introduced into the club structure.
If I were at the Supporters Meeting with Dane tomorrow I would say this to him publically and add that I am personally proud that my Season Ticket money has funded, if only as a small share, this new position.

Dane and Melissa note your comments Animal.

The main focus at the moment is to get Season Ticket Renewal e-mails art.

This coming season fans who renew will not only get a lapel pin badge but also a BFC Car Licence Display Holder which remain in stock from 2018 when demand for them seemed to stop.
