    Favourite sports book

I don't read a lot of sports books but there are some canny ones around.

Steve Claridge's autobiography was actually a really good read-all about his time in the lower leagues and his time with John Beck at Cambridge who created the long ball game and honed it to a ridiculous degree before Wimbledon ptook it to a whole new level.

Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby, tying in his love life with his love of Arsenal is a brilliant book, too.

What are yours? Doesn't have to be football.

Years ago I enjoyed Ian Botham's autobiography.

He was a hard lad both on and off the pitch and playing pro football for a while with Scun-thorpe United.

The book had it's lighter parts too with an Indian fan following him all over the sub continent and calling him "Iron Bottom"

Ain't that the truth. And some don't make it to tell their tale, Gary Speed being a case in point.

Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby - this - I read because it had a story and was not ghost written (so to speak!)

Ahh, honestly, man...read the book...I honestly can NOT recommend it highly enough.

As for Simon Yates, the climbing community is split on what he did but if you read his book I think you will, at least, gain a different perspective.

    Seriously, read it-it's incredible.

Aye, I rated his book as well.

I really like James Milner's one that came out just before Christmas.

Also a big fan of Michael Clavin's three books and the one about non-league football called Home and Away.

Another good one in that vein is called Where's Your Caravan: My Life on Football's B-Roads.
