O/T Doncaster Council to Close all Cemeteries from Today

Doncaster council have from today decided to close all cemeteries , they are asking people to light a candle at home for loved ones.
All church weddings & baptisms are cancelled, but funerals are still allowed with a limited number.

Fire Brigade have warned against lighting unattended candles.

Seems strange closing the cemeteries, be it's a open space, where not a lot of people are in attendance, we go to our son's grave in Church of Englands Swinton graveyard at least twice a week, the most people we see is 6 people or less.

    Must be heartbreaking.

Ask yourself this one question though. What would your son advise you to do, in these circumstances?

I’m sure you know the answer.

Keep yourself and your missus safe.

They’ve already been closing them down in Rotherham area, think it was Bramley that was closed last week.

The problem is Eric that because most of parks (kids park) with shelters (where they meet up) are closed so some will look to gather somewhere else even if some don’t agree it happens

The one at Thurcroft is secluded/10 mins walk out of village so easy target

Heart goes out to you Ericslad, can’t begin to imagine your emotions at this time.
I believe that the main reason for closing cemeteries etc other than the actual threat of catching the virus is that in most cases it involves travelling to and from the cemetery. Personally if you can walk there I believe you should be allowed to enter as part of your permitted exercise

With hearing the news about closures, we went up first thing this morning & laid flowers on our son's grave, 4 other people in the graveyard.
