Two dozen in the books but this one might go quickly. I'll post new clues regularly (at least daily). I won't be responding to guesses until someone is correct. Guess as many times as you like. There's no O/T in the title so obviously it's football related. Here we go. Good luck.

I played for my country for more years than most.

I scored goals wherever I played but not at a great rate.

I'm a bit of a cup specialist.

I have a couple of hat tricks with different teams but it's nothing really to be proud of.

I guess you could say I was a bit clumsy once.

I scored in a memorable victory for my country.

Don't mistake me for an Eastern European locomotive.

But don't mix me up with a high end appliance brand.

I feel there's a Sir Walter Scott novel in me somewhere.

I wasn't the subtlest of players.

I once plied my trade overseas for a team now managed by a brief but fondly remembered RUFC loanee.

A budding young athlete could point the way to my identity.

I don't think Ian Gray enjoyed coming across me on the way to one of my trophies.
