    S'land till I cry

    Anybody seen the second season?

That Charlie Methven comes across as a massive pr!ck IMO.

On a different note, Jack Ross seems like a decent fellow and a decent manager too. It's not his fault that all the players were leaving the sinking ship, so can't really blame him for not getting them promoted in the end.

Watched the first four episodes of the new season, thought it was rubbish compared to the first season.

Well both seasons are legendary pieces of tragical comedy

The new season is probably worse than the first one, but that's mainly due to this Charlie character who treats people like sh!t and acts like he's the best thing that's ever happened to the North East.

True. You can't compare his personality to Charlie Methven's though as Charnley doesn't have one.

I watched season 1 to have a laugh and found myself genuinely hating their players... what a bunch of w@nkers....

The 2nd season, dear me.... Stewart Donald and Charlie meth man are a right couple of chancers.... they make ashley look half decent...

Their whole motivation was so gratification and it blew up in their arrogant faces....

Meth man especially is a piece of work....

    Not watched any of it.

Depending how lockdown goes might have to though.

Still think it is hilarious they made one season in the expectation of glory and then the same with the 2nd and both went tits up

Your review is spot on, Mick. Not a lot of likeable characters in that series.

True, Jammy. It's amazing television in that regard!

My daughter had seen the first episodes before I did and told me that Methven was David Brent Mark 2.
    She wasn't wrong.
That scene where he is explaining his idea to change the music as the teams walk out and encourage an "Ibiza Rave" atmosphere was hilarious.
You could see the thought bubbles coming out of the rest of the "PR Team" - "This bloke's a complete f***in' d***head" - while nodding and trying not to cry!

Actually when you think about it they were correct in their predictions two seasons in succession having said twice they would get out of this division easily.

They did it twice easily with two rapid relegations.
