I'm disappointed at that, though I could have missed it.

I'm more disappointed that the club has decided to end discussions in this way and open the possibility of discussions with "other" fans groups. And that they are setting up their own Foundation!
Mecca, for those who will read this and not know much about DUSF can you maybe give a brief history, eg when it started, who were the main drivers?

This is not a comment on DUSF but Mr Ogren has invested a lot of money rescuing our club from the damage done by ST and I get the impression that he's a quiet man, but ruthless if you try and dictate to him from a position of weakness.

    From the DUSF web site:

"The Foundation's purpose is to provide an additional financial support to Dundee United Football Club..."

Be interesting to know how much money they have give the club over the years and how often.

Cant get their website to open (crashed??) but from old Tele articles I see this is a group that was led by John Gibson and Martin Manzi.

Sounds like the Foundation have requested a place on the board in exchange for some of the money that they had promised their members, and Utd fans when they were looking for members in the first place, that they'd give to the club when required.

What is it with our supporters clubs/foundations getting too big for their boots??

    I agree with this

Disappointing if true with regards dusf, definitely irritated Ogren who has done so much for us in a sport space of time.

From the Dundee United Supporters' Foundation:

We are genuinely astonished at the statement put out today in the name of Club Chairman Mark Ogren, primarily in its timing, given that people have far more important things in their lives to deal with just now, and we are angry at having to deal with this now for that reason.

We were asked by the Club to keep these discussions confidential and we adhered to this. However, the tone and inaccuracy of the statement means we must respond.

We only became aware late last night that the Club had rejected the latest of several, and in our view very reasonable funding proposals we have put to them recently, prior to a possible ballot of members.

As well as our desire to assist our Club financially, we have also had to ensure we discharge our duties as directors of a private company limited by guarantee by showing prudence and due diligence before recommending release of a six-figure sum of members’ money.

For the Club to go public in such a manner is a great disappointment. We have tried extremely hard over the last three to four weeks to make this work and to get a proposal that we could put out to a ballot of members.

We will not be speaking to the press on this until we have given a full update to members which we are working on.

surely that would mean the end of the current foundation, why put money into something that looks like the club wont accept when you can put money into something the club will use?
