Why reporters keep asking the same questions about PPE.
1. They are as thick as ****
Or
2. They haven’t been watching the updates for the last few weeks and are totally deaf when a previous reporter asks the same question after an in depth explanation.
I'm still waiting for one if them to say well done for arranging the furlough scheme and pay out more than most countries in Europe. But that would be praising the government and they are not allowed to do that.
Sorry Mick, I understand totally the problem. I won’t attack any of them.
As I’ve posted elsewhere, it appears the majority of these press questioners are trying to be clever in endeavouring to catch the ministers / specialists out. The constant “aren’t you ashamed that.....” “Do you agree that....”. “Is the reason that....” dreadful !
Why has the use of open questions reduced to a minimum?
Occasionally there is a sensibly posed open question enabling a decent informative response.
I think the daily briefing is an excellent way of maintaining transparency and I believe the varying presenters are doing a decent job in extraordinary circumstances.
It could be that they don't believe what the government are saying. The FT today is quoting the Office for National Statistics and stating that as a conservative number, deaths are probably in excess of 41,000 - over twice what the government is quoting. The government is not including deaths outside of hospitals in its figures which is at best very misleading.
I’d disagree Paul.
The first ten minutes are a waste of our lives as they repeat everything verbatim night after night.
“When will the PPE be here Mr Hancock?
Reply.....”Waffle,waffle,obfuscate,waffle”
It’s the same non answer to virtually every question.
I want to see a reporter lose their rag and say to Hancock.....
“Enough.......you’ve given the same non answer now for 4 weeks.....tell us the date!?
In fact I’d love someone to say to him that he’s completely inept and ask him to resign.
I think the truth is that nobody has a scooby doo about the virus.
Lol, that's amazing Mick because I want Hancock to lose his rag with the reporters. I am amazed at the self control he has when constantly being treated with contempt. How can you be ashamed of trying your best to access BILLIONS of pieces of PPE when its an ongoing problem? The reporters clearly don't understand. I do, and its not difficult. If it was you answering the questions Mick you would be telling the reporters the exact same thing, because you would have no choice.
I am very glad that I’m not a minister in this government, having to deal with this crisis. I am sure that they are all trying their best and they are all human; humans make mistakes. I couldn’t say that I could do better, none of us could, unless you’re involved in the nitty gritty of handling all the issues, how can you know what they have to deal with. I didn’t vote Conservative in the election but I won’t criticise people for doing their very best in the most trying of circumstances.
