    Cheers and Taxi

Ive been watching Cheers again. Shelley Long to me is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Whatever she feels her face shows it, that cant be acting.

Yet her ex husband divorced her, and she spent six months in bed with depression, and may have overdosed. That is not the reason for this though.

Every episode is a story in itself, and a comedy. Some episodes are Shakesperian in its pathos and drama, an epic in itself. You have to ask why the BBC cant do something similar, the family sits down to watch tv at 7 after tea, to get the One show. Tiolet paper tv, cheap and nasty.

The truth is there is no writing talent out there. If there is, they don't get a chance, or its too expensive, the BBC prefers profanity like Mrs Brown, no talent needed. Socialism is cheap, and creates poverty. The prime viewing of 7 till 10 on the BBC is embarrassing.

I could do it, but im a tory and not their communist ideal. You have to wear the right clothes, be transgender, gay or have some monstrosity about you.

Taxi is just as good, Danny DeVito is a comedy genius. The BBC is a prime example of the socialist poison in society.

    Una, of Chatteris.

It just goes to show how tastes can differ as I don't rate Cheers at all even though I catch a couple of episodes most mornings mainly because it's the only thing on at 7am,the storylines are lacking and the characters boring with maybe the waitress being amusing at times,it's astounding how they chose Frasier as the character to do a series with as his input into the show minimal
I haven't seen Taxi in decades but I can remember liking it but mainly due to Danny Devitos character

Both were very good at the time as was Married With Children - another Yank offering that proved the 'muricans could actually do decent comedy. I do suspect that if I watched them again now though, they would seem a bit dated and dull.

On the same score, I watched an episode of The Young Ones years after believing it was the best sitcom of all time, to discover that it is in fact appallingly gash.

You are right floppy, its funny how tastes change over everything. Married with children was hilarious, written by a genius. Now its not politically correct, you will never see it again. I wonder if its on youtube, wonderfully acted too. The death of this programme is the product of the thought police, you cant have a laugh anymore.

Tom and jerry and Loony tunes went the same way. Those socialist barstewards have a lot to answer. I had a cousin in Phoenix, now sadly passed on. We were talking about tv and Married with Children came up, me and ex madam said how funny it was.

My cousin and her husband seemed to be felled by an axe. To them it was sacriligious and disgusting. We had a heated discussion. To bring some clarity, they were Mormons, their religious sensibilities were outraged.

It doesn't matter if its funny, and true to life, other considerations come first, how sad that is, denial of something that is true is always wrong. As for Cheers chalky, its not about individual episodes, its a love story between two people. And the tragedy that ensues when they don't know it, and are too proud. Sam was an alky, he was never going too " change" the carnage those people create is enormous.

What are you doing up at 7am? Im still up at 3am.

I'm helping out at the hospital doing three nights a week, when I finish at 6am I usually have a drink and sandwich and put my feet up for a hour and Cheers is on Ch4
Like floppy says some tv programs haven't aged well over the years, when I was young I can remember bowling with laughter at The Dustbinmen so much that I ordered it on DVD so I could relive those comedy moments and it's chuffing crap,it's the same as Robins Nest,George and Mildred,On The Buses especially is awful and the list goes on,maybe we just grow up when we...erm..grow up
The Young Ones was always gash and made for thir**** year old kids but the bands that made an appearance was ace especially Motorhead
