I have a couple of vines trained up an over a grape arbour I purpose built. One is a 'table' grape and one a 'juicing' grape. As Crash says, keeping them under control in the growing season is a job in itself. I'd say in a good year mine produce about 25-50lbs each and the birds/squirrels/chipmunks get most of those.

    Does anyone still grow gooseberries?

This goes to show we know something about gardening in Yorkshire. Our 10-1 season is not the only connection to Chelsea

Can't prune them this year. Got a blackbird with 4 eggs in there.
Gonna grow wild. Can't disturb it.

Mine are the same although no birds nests I can see. They look like they need a COVID-19 haircut the way they've gone these past couple of weeks. After I pruned them hard in November I've gone from, "Maybe I killed them" back in March to "I wish I'd killed them" in June

They have a cheap pruning tool in the US, it's called an undocumented immigrant.
