    United programmes

Just saw Dundee United v FC Porto programme from 1975 sell for just over a hundred quid on ebay, anyone know why this one seems more collectible than others? Also while on the subject, what's your favourite programme you've collected?

I have all the home ones from the eufa cup final run as my most treasured.

I have a suitcase full of stuff but i think my most valuable would probably be my Roma away programme.I might be wrong as it maybe worth nothing but there were only 200 United fans at that match and you needed to buy whisky or something else to get one.

A scottish policeman had been on TV telling the Romans not to sell us alcohol(true story)and me and my mate got taken from a square by the police because we had a bottle of beer in our hands.

We were surrounded by Romans at the time so it was probably for our own good, the Italian police with a machine gun out the car window then took us to the stadium and put us in at their equivalent of the George Fox Stand.

To get a programme we got two English nannies to buy the miniature whisky's so i managed to get one. They point blank refused to sell whisky to other United fans as per the Scottish policeman's instructions so i do not think too many made it back to Dundee.

BTW when we got to the Olympic Stadium in the police car they made the stewards open the gates and put us inside the ground,it was about 11.30AM and the game was due to start at either 3 or 3.30PM.

Great story GB 👍 I bet they would have been happy letting our players have a crafty drink though, the cheating b@stards!

Your programme from Roma game usually sells for between £15-£25 on ebay

I think I might have that United v. Porto programme. I'll have a look.
    But wouldn't sell it anyway!

Great Roma story Gunboat! My respects for going out there.

I paid for our trip because i had backed United to win at Tannadice, believe it or not we were only 6/4 to do so.I had a big single bet but also had us on a correct score for 2-0 and 3-0.As far as i remember we were 20/1 for 3-0 so was gutted with the shot that hit the post in the 2nd half.

The mate that went with me sadly passed away years ago,we travelled from Dundee to Rome by train. What an FN journey that was!.

I once went past a charity shop near my house and spotted a Scotland v Australia World Cup qualifier programme. Thought it would be worth a few quid so quickly nipped into my house to get my bank card and get cash out before someone else snapped it up. Paid I think £3, then I went on eBay and there were dozens selling for about half the price. Therein ended any thoughts I might have had of becoming an entrepreneur. Maybe I was meant to support Dundee with those economics.

Erm..... Wanna buy a football club?
Hardly any fans, team is ****e and the manager's a prick. The stadium is in terrible condition but we may be able to throw in an old bed and some bin bags as part of the deal? There are also plans well underway for a fantastic new stadium complete with its own monorail system, which we will be able to rent out to a much superior local team (Lochee United I've heard)
Provided you can pay the full asking price, we might be able to entice a C grade celebrity with a dodgy haircut to sing at the grand opening ceremony for a reasonable fee.

Don't pass up the chance of a lifetime, we'll make an entrepreneur out of you yet! 😂

I've got a mint away v Monaco, signed by all players/management. Might be worth a pound or two to the right Arab.
