QUEENS story on Scottish Sun website

Is there any truth in the story on the Scottish Sun sport website that Queens have followed Dunfermline's action and let go 16 players leaving only Dobs, Holty and young keeper Leighfield at Palmy - it is all over the Pie and Bovril website also with Doonhamer fans wondering if it true / or load of *******s !

Wouldn't have been surprised if Queens had retained many squad players at the end of this season irrespective of whether Scottish football was in this predicament or not.

Reading this morning that Gary Oliver missed out on a contract extension as he was seven games short of the number which would have automatically triggered the extension. Wasn't aware of this being a contractual requirement but nevertheless a good idea from a form and fitness aspect when you are not 100% sure on a player.

i reckon most queens fans wouldnt of wanted him signed up next term anyways ,blessing in disguise this for queens ,once football does get going again most players throughout the scottish leagues will be looking for clubs ,depending on how many clubs are left after this corona thing ,lots of the players might never get a new contract atol .so whatever teams take the bull by the horns when it resumes will get a decent team from these players.

Most footballers will sign for the club who are paying the biggest wages and longest in contracts Dougal as unlike other professions it is a short career.

thats the point im making ftivano ,so the relitively so called smaller club that are prepered to take the bull by the horns for a couple of seasons after whats left after this corona thing have the chance to quickly get themselfs into a bigger financial footing in the prem ,while the majority will slump around after this struggling for a while .its a gamble i know ,but what a reral chance someones going to have to sign decent players when most there rivals wont afford too ,i would personally go into the red for a few seasons after this while the clubs struggle to go for it a small club will never have a better odds than after this corona devistates most clubs .

I see your point. A lot of teams will have to reduce their wages bills and it is unlikely a lot of teams will be able to offer what they previously did. A player previously on £1000 a week for example may not be able to command that anymore. We do however have to be very careful about going into the red as I don't think we have big enough sponsorship deals or investments to make any large scale investment sustainable.

I will be very interested to see how a team like Cove Rangers handle this as for investors up there is could be a chance to catapult them straight up through the league especially as their stadium is a community ground with costs shared with the school.

Unfortunately for Queens this may be the start of a 5 year period of just getting through it.

This is a great opportunity to enlarge the BOD, there are sufficient money people around the area who would welcome this. If David Rae would like to sell some of his shares, it could very well be the right time for a cash investment from new and fresh faces. It would be better for the club to have eight Directors, more people helping out and a better outlook for our club!
