Well yes that's very true and does put things in perspective .

However my main point is that the club is now a capitalist corporation as much as modern day football is and has to find its corner of the market to survive and grow .

It's old socialist concept under John Dennis and Patrick Cryne to a certain extent is no more .

If it isn't a viable business then it goes just as the same as a number of companies do , the strong survive the weak go to the wall , market forces are king .

None of the fanbase were ever involved in the process we have today , we didn't have a say in it although I was initially willing to give them a chance myself .

The clubs history , tradition and importance to the town and community are no longer relevant , it's naive to think they are , only a locally born owner would understand it anyway .

Chien and Conway are from the US who think nothing of moving clubs to another city if they aren't getting the bang for their buck , Oakland are set to lose their Raiders for a second time when they move to Vegas after losing them to LA in the 80's before going back in the 90's .

It's brutal but that's the modern world now .

Just to add jules and without wishing to politicise the whole thread the country had a choice last December which way they wanted it to go .

I take the point the offerings to the electorate weren't great and I didn't vote at all myself .

However many in this town and there will be many who go down to Oakwell voted against this amongst many other things to be fair also .

As SB often says " dont come ruerin to me "

It’s brutal, I agree. They will close it if it can’t support itself. The history, tradition and importance to them don’t matter. We all agree on that. It’s all PR. If by paying my money it supports the clubs existance for longer , (albeit under owners who have shown the fans little ambition other than shiny handryers and cheap, but plentiful purchases in the player market ) then whilst I can afford I will do it. Them playing the fiddle hasn’t really swayed my decision. The money they trouser from mine and the wife’s season ticket won’t fuel their Lambos for very long..... I can’t see any local businessman EVER owning our club again. We are stuck with this now.

My god though..... I wish my scarf could look as bright and Shiny as Jeremys in that picture..... maybe Mary can have a word with his wife about what Wash Powder to use !

I doubt very much I will be renewing , i've only seen 6 games this season due to health problems , so to payout again , not knowing if I'm going to be well enough to go , or games behind closed gates , doesn't appeal to me just now , 70/30 chance of not renewing , which after 6 decades of going , it will seem strange , good luck to all who have renewed , so it's looking like watching Local Non League sides at the moment ? Will see, in all honesty I cannot say I've missed going as much as i thought I would ,

A really good thread this, in which good points have been made by both sides of the arguement.
I really am torn about what to do, and reading this thread hasn't made it any easier. For me, I can afford the price of the season ticket (concession), and I have seen the club in the old fourth division, so the quality of the football isn't the issue, but the feeling that the owners are pillicking us.

What we have all read today, I’d make sure you pay by Visa. I can’t wait for the Conway spin in this one,
