There will be an increasing level of immunity as it spreads through the population, the evidence suggests that it attacks blood vessels, which is bad in one way, but gives hope for a vaccine as there a number of drugs available which treat other blood cell diseases. It will take more than 18 months to "blow" itself out. However, peoples perception of risk will fall as deaths reduce, but the poor sods who have some vulnerability will remain at risk.
SARS, MERS etc didn't take 18 months to "blow out". Interested why you think their cousin will take that long.
ICU specialists over here have noticed that thrombosis occurs with about half of the CV-19 patients that end up in IC. That leads to renal failure in roughly half of those getting thrombosis. Thrombosis also causes heart and lung issues for patients. There has also been some brain damage spotted in some autopsies. They think that it's the virus itself doing the damage rather than thrombosis thickened blood.
MERS started March18th 2012 last known death 13thJan2020 according to WHO figures
Ebola ( also Covid related) has flared up numerous times from 1976 to 2016 As the W.H.O are describing Covid 19 as four times more deadly than the other two we had better keep our fingers crossed
We are looking at this from different vantage points mista. As I have said in other threads on CV-19, its relatives are still out there, as is Spanish flu for that matter. Still no vaccine for any of them but they are not the force they were. They still infect a relatively small number of people but are not significant in numbers and, to the best of my knowledge, they stopped looking for a vaccine for any of them once they faded into relative insignificance. So, yes, the most recent known MERS death was this year but cases are few and far between. Sorry if I gave you the impression they had all disappeared completely.
CV-19 might be 4 times more deadly but is it 4 times more hardy so it lasts 4 times longer than its predecessors..... time will tell as nobody has a clue.
This is a football thread about restarting the season on 20th June, can we keep the general corona conversation to the relevant threads please?
