Former Liverpool and Scotland international midfielder Charlie Adam and Wales defender Chris Gunter are among five experienced players to be released by Reading.

Ex-Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett, 26, winger Gareth McCleary, 33, and left-back Jordan Obita, 26, have also been let go.

Huddersfield Town have released four players after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Championship.

The Terriers have opted not to offer new deals to strikers Elias Kachunga, Collin Quaner, Rekeil Pyke and goalkeeper Joel Coleman.

We were linked with Quaner but he opted to go on loan to Ipswich. Don't think he was that effective.

I'd be very interested in Obita.

150+ games in the Championship is good experience. 26, very good pace and I seem to recall him pulling the strings at the NYS.

It's very likely these are the sorts of players we might have access to that previously we wouldn't not have been able to afford.

As Covid impacts clubs they will be cutting their cloth.

Will it happen? Doubt it, they'll be others very keen.

It appears terms were agreed then the club withdrew the offer, injury aside.

Think finance and cutting cloth is going to be a big factor in the next few weeks.

Can also see a lot of clubs asking players to take cuts or shift towards performance based pay.
