Blackford was also very vociferous about the number of care home deaths in the care home in Skye yet he has never queried why these patients suffering from Covid-19 were not transferred by Air Ambulance helicopter to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. There were a couple of helicopters stationed at Lossiemouth to transfer people suffering from Covid-19 in to a specialist A&E ward in a hospital.
It has now been announced that the staff at Raigmore Hospital had few Covid-19 patients to treat yet people were left to die in the care home in Skye.
In my opinion Nicola Sturgeon, Jeanne Freeman and Catherine Calderwood should be charged with manslaughter as a result of these care home deaths throughout Scotland. They made the decision at the beginning of the lockdown if not before 23rd March 2020.
However nothing will be done as Nicola will trot out the usual excuse ‘we have to learn from our mistakes to ensure that it never happens again’...... until the next time!!
Sure I read that more people have died in care homes in Scotland than in hospital from coronavirus.

It's amazing the huge percentages that can't see it.

Service economy when nobody seems to want any kind of service is gonna struggle.

I think we will bounce back but not as quickly as they are hoping.

State pension 72, some sort of wealth grab (portrayed as to pay for nhs) Vat hike and big changes to council tax are my predictions and I'll throw in higher rate pension relief gone and isa allowance slashed.

That is why Nicola and her cohorts are keen to lump all the deaths from Covid-19 into one grand total.
BBC Reporting Scotland has just announced that the number of care home deaths in Scotland is more than 50% of the total number of deaths throughout Scotland.
This will be saving the SNP controlled Scottish Government a fortunate no longer having to pay out free personal care or free nursing care for people who are resident in care homes and nursing homes throughout Scotland.

If your experts are largely virologists, epidemiologolists and NHS health experts what chance do politicians and civil servants have of changing anything? The flatten the curve process has worked but we still don't seem to have got anywhere near the testing and tracing approach that appears to have been so effective in other countries.
Would also like to see a different approach to air travel. Putting everyone who lands in GB in quarantine seems to me to be a ploy. It is so unreasonable, was never applied to all the people who came in during March and April and May, why is it a sensible hing to do now that infection rates are in decline? I don't know the answer but I'll bet there is one.
They try to hide behind "we are following the science".....There isn't really an exact science for this type of thing.....a lot of its guesswork and let's not even discuss the magical mysterious R Number.

Politicians with power are paid to make decisions......they have all puffed at it both sides of the border.

The Swedes and the japs had a pragmatic approach and for me it worked fairly well.

We haven't quite taken a sledgehammer to crack a nut more an atomic bomb to take back the Falklands.

We got things all out of perspective as did a few other countries.

It's done now but surely new normal, post covid and new world talk has got to stop or people will continue to have the fear.

I wouldn’t trust politicians throughout Scotland to be able to pick their own nose let alone make the decisions to relax the lockdown rules.
In my opinion listening to scientists is crazy as scientists are notorious for getting their calculations wrong. They have previously exaggerated the number of people who would die in a previous epidemic but like politicians never apologise when they get their calculations wrong.

I find this statement very worrying, Islay. The whole basis of our society is based on laws that we accept because they have been discussed and prepared and voted for by our politicians. We may not always agree with them but we have the ability to vote for change. There does seem to be a problem when the party in power pursues policies which appear to favour an idea that a substantial number of the electorate oppose, like Nicola and independence and Boris and Brexit, but we just have to get on with it and see what actually happens.

You raise the point about raising lockdown rules. I trust you because you are a Dee, you think a lot about everything, so what would you do to reduce the effect of lockdown? For me it seems to revolve around hand washing and an effective face mask, but that's as far as I get.

Boris and his mob are not the answer for Scotland or many parts of England but that’s for the other parties to get their acts together and stop pandering to the snowflakes
What measurement would you be using here to declare Scotland bankrupt?

Japan for example has national borrowing at 225% of GDP, but manages the payments therefore not unable to pay it's debts - in my view not bankrupt.

UK is at about 85% right now and less than most of mainland Europe except Germany i think.

Norway and UK immigration levels are about the same at circa 15%of the population. And with regard to taxes, as a percentage Norway are slightly less than Scotland but that leaves disposable income much higher as their wages are considerably more than here.

People throughout the UK and particularly in Scotland should be allowed to use their own common sense to end the lockdown as soon as possible. Nicola has just announced that there were 9 deaths from Coronavirus in the last 24 hours throughout Scotland.
In my opinion it is now time to end the lockdown as it is likely that more people have died in the last 24 hours in Scotland from Cancer but the continual number of deaths from Cancer throughout Scotland is never mentioned.
It is crazy that people can purchase clothes in Asda or Tesco in Scotland but they cannot purchase clothes from Debenhams, M & S, Primark and Bon Marche to name a few. We cannot purchase furniture as furniture shops have been closed since 23rd March 2020. Some people will say that you can purchase furniture online but in my experience I need to sit on a chair to make sure that it meets my needs before purchasing it.
Public toilets should be reopened with immediate effect otherwise we run the risk of having a public health epidemic on our hands.
Hairdressers and barbers shop should also be reopened with immediate effect. If Nicola Sturgeon can have her hair done every day then she should not be denying that opportunity to everyone else throughout Scotland. My wife books an appointment to get her hair done and barbers shops could easily do likewise to maintain social distancing.

Scotland currently runs at a deficit c13bn/year, no central bank, no currency and from what we know from the referendum no clue about how to fix it. Then we have pensions and a low tax paying base.

This current crisis would’ve royally phucked us.

Have the SNP decided on a currency?

Is it the euro or does it have to be the euro?
