Southend United given suspended points deduction for late payment of wages

What’s point in given points out just to suspend them?

If I was them I'd ask for the deduction now.

It says they fielded an ineligible player so I would hope that is the reason for the points deduction or is it more inconsistencies by the efl.

Why don't they just have a set points deduction for different breaches i.e. failing to uphold a fixture = -3pts, ineligible player = -3pts etc.

So why are their points suspended for an ineligible player and yet we got the three points deducted straight away for Farrend Rawson

Could be down to the perception of 'advantage gained' by fielding the ineligible player. Did we win the game Rawson played in potentially improving our chance of avoiding relegation?

    “The Shrimpers accepted all charges”

Maybe because it’s expensive fighting against them and perhaps a gamble to get an immediate punishment and not one that kicks in next season (if we have one)

How would they fight it? They either did pay their players or they didn't. Similarly they either fielded an ineligible player or they didn't. No grey areas or wriggle room that I can see.
