    The 2010-11 kit had the full hoop. The back was left blank for European games with the full hoop being used domestically. To me, that was the best 'Well strip in my years of supporting. I've still got it, though I'll have to lose a couple of pounds to fit it again.

    I cannot fathom a good reason for not having the full hoop. There could be a blank backed strip for European games as in 2010-11. The band could continue onto the back but stop for the numbers as you suggest. Domestically, thick amber borders round claret numbers would suffice. Or, as a last resort, white numbers could be used (sigh).

    When you consider Celtic get by with their hoops by sticking an almost illegible black number on their backs, you have to wonder why 'Well can't keep their distinctive strip intact.

    The rules are ridiculous...I always liked Celtic only having numbers on their shorts (with black cellotape on their shirts for European games) and us having tiny numbers above the hoop.

    Not quite, it was broken at the sides so it was basically two bands. But that is the closest we've had to the full hoop since the mid 90s.
