There is a video doing the rounds of some famous black Americans, Morgan Freeman among them, where they are saying that the majority of those who go off the rails come from broken homes, no male role model and therefore they don't learn how to behave properly.

No idea if that is true.

That is exactly this issue and my pretty wide exposure to black ‘youth’ only serves to confirm that - something they themselves say, or rather the enlightened ones say, the less so just demonstrate it in their actions. I’m friendly enough with the non-absent parents of a few (the females obviously) and they are just resigned to it as a cultural habit
