    The full story from court

Hearts and Partick Thistle’s fight against relegation must be arbitrated by an SFA tribunal and not an open court, a judge has ruled.

Lord Clark announced his verdict shortly after 2pm on Friday following three days of proceedings at Edinburgh’s Court of Session to decide how the matter should be dealt with.

Hearts and Thistle unsuccessfully argued their case deserved full legal proceedings as they seek to overturn the outcome of the controversial vote to end the 2019/20 season in April.

FULL STORY: Hearts and Partick Thistle relegation fight WON’T go to court as clubs set for SFA arbitration tribunal

    14:24KEY EVENT
    BREAKING!

SFA to appoint an arbitration panel to deal with Hearts and Thistle challenge.

    14:14
United, Raith and Cove motion dismissed

Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers’ motion to dismiss has been refused.

    13:12
    Further ruling

Lord Clark will also rule on Hearts and Thistle’s request for the recovery of documents from the league and three champion clubs.

A decision is still expected shortly after 2pm.

    13:00
    Decision expected

Lord Clark is expected to make decision after 2pm as to whether Hearts and Thistle will be given a full court hearing in their bid to avoid relegation, or if the matter should be dealt with by the SFA.

The court has broken up for lunch and a verdict is anticipated when proceedings recommence.

    10:58
Will we get a decision today?

While all presentations are likely to finish today, Lord Clark suggested on Wednesday he may take some time to consider all options rather than returning an immediate.

That could see a verdict pushed back until Monday.

    10:29
    What to expect

The presentations are expected to finish today, after which we’ll have a clearer picture of where this Scottish football saga goes next.

    10:11
    The SPFL letter

The letter sent by the SPFL to all 42 member clubs ahead of this week’s proceedings was also addressed on Thursday.

The correspondence informed them that they would be required to join Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers in opposing Hearts and Partick’s submission if they wanted to see the SPFL’s response.

Mr Thomson contested that it was not appropriate for the SPFL to interpret a request to view their submission as support for it, nor was the request to back United, Raith and Cove.

    He said:

It is a debacle. It is of significant public interest and concern. “Given the legitimate public interest present in the case, the matter ought to be determined in a public forum like a court because it serves the public interest to do so.
    10:05
    Doncaster 'could be called'

Mr Thomson stated on Thursday that SPFL chief Neil Doncaster could be called into the dock as a witness.

If the Hearts and Thistle are granted their court hearing, the Dundee vote fiasco looks likely to come under intense scrutiny.

    09:48
    Catch-up

These past few days have basically been about deciding who has the final word on Hearts and Thistle’s relegation.

The two clubs want a full court hearing into the decision to send them down.

The SPFL have argued the matter should be dealt with by the SFA, as have Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers, who could be denied promotion.

    Presentations will continue shortly.

    09:43
    Good morning!

Proceedings are set to get under way again at Edinburgh’s Court of Session.

Will Hearts and Partick Thistle be granted a full hearing into their relegation challenge?

    We’ll have all the latest.

Do you know the saddest thing Francis? I had a lot of sympathy for Hearts until a couple of weeks ago, - but poaching their rivals' manager was simply not cricket. (or football)

I don't think I'm alone in being of the opinion that Scottish football lost a golden opportunity to revolutionise the sport for the better, - introduce league reconstruction and a proper pyramid system supporting grass roots football.

It's all about self interest and what the clubs can get for themselves and to hell with the fans.

I've lost interest in the game.

yep jardi iv been thinking the same for a good few seasons now ,tho this is what happens when you give every club a vote instead of the sfa making one off decisions like every other country ,scotland is the only federation that gives its clubs the voting power that i know of .
