I know a number of guys who, in days gone by, would watch the test match on the telly with sound off and simultaneously listen to the radio commentary. John Arlott amongst others.

Mick my daughter played cricket at Loughborough whilst at University. She was called straight Sophie as only two of the players weren't munchers. All the England team eat muff.

I used to do that too. Unfortunately, now not good to do as the Sky coverage is several seconds behind real time and the radio commentary.

Turning the sound off, had enough

and I doubt she has much experience of facing 90mph bowlers. I can however think of a couple of other boxes having her included ticks.

Ian Ward always strikes me as a bloke trying too hard.

I tend to find test cricket is best commented on by players of true test pedigree who’ve been there and done it............perhaps a test career of 5 matches and a batting average of 16.12 doesn’t help his inferiority complex.

One exception I’d make out of this present crop is Rob Key who didn’t have a stellar test career but did score 221 in one innings.

Nobody will ever beat Benaud and Arlott though.

I’ve said before that I usually watch with the sound turned off; I just cannot stand that awful woman commentator and as for Nasser Hussain.....! Dreadful.
