Get well soon Jim. You are probably a decent fun player when Arabs have a song about you.

Always comes over as a genuine guy. My golf partner's son-in-law works for the Lennox Herald which is a local paper in Dumbarton and has to speak to Jim Duffy every week during the season. Says he is a proper gent.

Can remember when Spain were winning all the international trophies between 2008-12 and some typical BBC Sportsound pleb asked him why Scotland can't produce guys like Xavi and Iniesta. Duffy's reply was along the lines of - ''If these two rocked up at an SPL club they'd be telt to come back when they're bigger''

Have encountered Jim Duffy several times over the years. He is, as has been said, a gentleman. Polite, helpful and a great sense of humour. Get well soon Jim.

Heading to Dens for the Tam McManus sending off derby with a car full of Arabs we stopped at the Claypots lights. Jim drew up beside us and gave the thumbs up.

I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery!

Another story about Jim and how he’s respected in the football world.

I remember when Jim had a career ending knee injury, Paul Hegarty donated his wages as did some of the other players when they heard about it. Seemingly Paul walked up to Dens and handed the whip round in for Jim.
