Former Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom has been stabbed and robbed as he visited a relative.
The 27-year-old, who now plays for Championship side Derby, was attacked in Toxteth on Merseyside.
Wisdom is recovering in hospital having featured for his club in their 2-1 win over Reading on Saturday.
A Derby County statement said: “Andre Wisdom has been the victim of an unprovoked assault and robbery.
“He sustained injuries which resulted in him being admitted to hospital.”
The latest is that he is recovering, but no word on the extent of his injuries.

Attacked by a gang of four and stabbed in the head and buttocks apparently.
Cowardly scum...mind you, Toxteth in the early hours is not high up on the list of places to be, even if you are as hard as Wisdom.
P.S. Believe he’s actually a ’Yarksheer’ lad, MA. Given his L.F.C. connections I’d imagine the culprits might be given a hard time before too long...such a pity!
