Think they might need to start wearing stab vests, getting beyond a joke knife crime.

    All the best to him

Men killing their partners in domestic violence are the biggest knife killers in the UK.

Not really no, not whilst the obvious factor is being avoided

    What factor is being avoided?

You were quoting on which demographic has the highest incidence and biggest problem with knife crime. I took that as being the most homicide victims of knife crime and showed that over 170 people were killed in 2018 as a result of domestic violence with a knife being the most popular murder weapon by far.

Couldn't personally find the number of black victims of knife crime killed in this period but I'd be surprised if it exceeds the number of women killed. I was wrong to put it forward as a fact. I have tried to find the exact numbers of black victims of knife crime and women killed by partners but couldn't. But I think the numbers will be very close and that the number of women killed by partners with a knife is likely to exceed black people.

What really interests me is why, given two horrific crime statistics (women and black knife crime victims) why one should choose to continually highlight one demographic and not the other, or any other murder demographic? Why do you do this?

I'd be the first to admit that there is a problem with young people and violent crime in London and that this is predominantly centred in the poverty hit demographics, which have large black communities. I work in one and and my college is surrounded by the highest concentration of youth gangs in the country (Walthamstow). Much of our work is trying to wrestle young people out of the grooming ganglords in the area as they service white middle class cocaine addicts. But as has been discussed in the 'WLM thread' this isn't just confined to Black communities - exactly the same issues (violent crime and gangs involvement) can be found in any poverty hit city in the world. Much has been made of the Glasgow violent gang situation 20 years ago, with predominantly white gangs, and how a multi-agency approach made quite positive improvements by opening up community centres, mentoring, youth groups, educational initiatives in schools etc) and unfortunately this approach has not been rolled out anywhere else. Quite the opposite in fact thanks to the austerity initiative.

I personally think that predominantly, violence and violent crime is a product of it's environment. It needs a mixture of multi-agency intervention, including strong policing measures. You seem to be of the mind that this is purely a Black person thing. Do you think that black people are genetically more violent and that it is a human nature thing?

*In some cases, Philips makes good points. I liked his work on multi-culturally enforced schools to ensure mixing of young kids in strongly race divided communities. Did you share his articles on that? I would agree with him here in that policing needs to be strong on crime ridden areas and innovative but not sure he's thinking through through the problem if it isn't accompanied by multi-agency community support. Can't read the article as has ad blocking.
