If he hits the ground running and keeps his head down then he'll do well for us next season. Compared to our other wide options I can't see Hastie as anything other than an improvement. Naturally there will be some fans who will be less than pleased to see him back after the way he left last year but there won't be any fans in the ground to vent their feelings to him, at least for the first few months of the season.

It was a pity how he ended up leaving us and he definitely had his head turned after that initial purple patch he had in early 2019 but there were other parties to blame along with the player himself. Firstly the club shouldn't have allowed him to enter the last months of his contract like they did and secondly it was clear that he was being advised by his agent to take the money. Can't blame a 20 year old for taking a big increase in wages but Rangers was a bad, bad move for him. Aside from generally being a shambles of a club on and off the park, their track record for signing and then properly developing young Scottish players is dreadful so this was never going to work out for Hastie in the long run.

IMO can only see this as a good signing for us as he will create a competition for places, which keeps the other wide players on their toes. Hastie if he wants to play every week will have to perform at the top of his game to stay in the team If it all turns pear shape he can go back to “THEM” in January. I’m sure if he hadn’t left the club the way he did and had been with “THEM” from day one in his career I am sure we would be snatching their hand off to AEK him on loan. Hope he has a great season with us.
