Thanks Paul, imo I think it's time for him to move on.Good luck to the lad & I hope it's Swindon that signs him he did well there & he's well like with staff & supporters.Whats he worth £250,000 - £300,000.

Whilst a lot of Rotherham fans would think he was worth it, I'd be looking for £400k.
Proven goal scorers attract premium price tags and as there are rumoured to be at least three clubs interested then we should hold out for a good deal.
He's clearly improved since he left our first team and his confidence will be high a very good season in div two
Another home grown talent we've been able to sell on.

Sadly another half decent player whose been cast aside by the boo boys. Roscoe, Watson, Taylor all a fair standard but put under pressure. You could see he tried but was never given a decent chance by the fans. Have a lot of them to be fair dunt we. Horses for courses

He never got a run in the team playing in a system that suited him, he got a little run when Kieffer Moore left and then it was always as cover for Smith, he isn't a lone target man though so he never looked great. If he'd been played in a front two like he has at Swindon we might have seen a better player, probably best for all concerned if he moves on.

I never heard people booing Yates although it could depend on where you are sat. Watson definitely didn't warrant people booing him as he was one of our best midfielders that I've seen. Neither did Roscoe although I never thought he was great.

ilikecarling, and there in lies the problem, 'A HALF decent player'. Those no time for sentiment in football it's a business to be the best and climb as high as possible with what you've got with a team. There's no disputing Yates was indeed a trier but for some reason always looked a level too low to become a first team regular.

I am pleased for the lad he had a good season with Swindon and that he went on to bag a decent goal tally for them. Being realistic though, he wouldn't have managed that with us, as we have players better than Jerry. He has found his level and a niche' to be recognised so good luck to him with his future football career.

Yes, he's only young and may well go on to improve to higher levels, I hope he does but for now, he doesn't fit into our side or position in the Championship. Sensible thing is to sell but quick, before interest wains.

If he's worth that much & a proven goal scorer why are we not keeping him.

Some players don't fit at some clubs and some do.
Jerry Yates, Darnell Fisher, Michael Smith are a few examples.
For whatever reason Jerry will have a better career away from the NYS.
As we've signed another attacking player today it's time for us to get as much as we can for him.
He's worth more to Swindon, Blackpool and Sunderland than RUFC and it's a funny old game as Greavsey used to say.

    I agree 400k seems a reasonable price
