I would not attend any crowded venue in any country presently and I'm 56,so feel more at risk.
Crowds in areas like football, theatre & music events etc appear no go areas but Vegas & Russian casinos are open - crazy scenario regarding crowds.

Presently I'm hammering away on my laptop translating all night for clients in Vladivostok but I do miss travel and actual talking to folks face to face.
Vladimir Putin is hoping to coax gamblers away from Las Vegas with his new casino mecca complete with ski slopes, shopping centres, hotels and a marina I'm typing in various languages to 'earn my corn' this week.

The new complex on the eastern fringe of Siberia has a 1,500 acre state of art gambling area which can accommodate thousands a day.Would I go or attend business opportunities there ?

    No I wouldn't until it's safe.

Gamblers from across Asia and the West are being 'encouraged' to visit the venue in the Pacific capital of Vladivostok where temperatures drop to minus 20 degrees centigrade in winter so snow sports activities are been heavily pushed too.

Years ago in the 60's USSR Brezhnev met USA President Ford in Vladivostok (home to the Pacific Fleet) for talks and nowadays there are over six consulates, many HQ's of offices for Japanese television companies, a USA information service and more than 100 offices of foreign companies with about 600 joint ventures in Vladivostok - business opportunities a plenty in the city hub - but I'll not venture there or any mass urbanised area till all is safe for sure, despite being asked.

"until all is safe for sure". How is that nirvana ever to be achieved, (and I mean, ever)?

Not possible, not now, not in a hundred or a thousand years, never.

If you want to read the data I suggest you look at the stuff coming out of John Hopkins university and Cambridge and Oxford. They also have more unvarnished data sets too. The economist has published some good stuff too.

I took offence at your original post as football grounds are one of the few places where significant restrictions will and probably should remain in place for a while and your post sounded like a general moan.
My point in starting the thread was not to have "a geenral moan" but to ask the (very pertinent IMHO) question, by way of a statement, what folks felt about the matter of social distancing and in particular how it might be achieved in a football stadium context.

I still believe that it can be, and that (as per some statement made by others) the risk associated with a "managed" mass gathering where only ST holders (as an example) were admitted is far less than the unmanaged gathersing associated with BLM, Pride, the re-opening of pubs etc, most of which seems to be accepted and which (certainly in the case of BLM and counter-protest gatherings over a fortnight ago) appears not to have generated the feared spike in infections

I fully understand the people that have underlying health issues and are genuinely scared. I respect their right to stay safe and avoid contact. I check several high risk boxes but....

The problem is the rest of the world. As someone married to a nurse and having a daughter that's also a nurse it's not a matter of if I was going to be exposed but when. It's that way for anyone that's around medical care professionals, teachers, store workers etc. It's just the way of the world once a disease breaks out. it's so contagious we'll all be exposed. It's been through my whole family and we were lucky no one got really sick or died. However, it's destroyed the wife and daughters jobs since the hospitals they worked for closed down for Covid Only and they layed off much of the staff. who knows when or if they snap back to full operations.

The damage to school age children's education and mental development will be much, much more devestating than the disease ever would have been. it will leave a scar on this generation that will take decades or maybe never overcome. Much like the great depression and WWII did for that generation. Almost criminal what the politicians will do to ensure their power and control. They have proven that they own us lock stock and barrel.

Only going to get worse. Supposedly they have bubuonic plague breaking out in China now. No need for testing on that one. You are dead before the test results come back.

Is that the disease from pigs? Man, they are closing the borders in my state from the rest of Australia as Covid19 has taken off big time.
They should round up all Chinese send them home and close all ties and borders with them.
I'm a Christian and believe God has had his say in china with the floods economy and now if it's true with the pig disease. Again I stress I don't blame the people of china and feel sorry for them as they are clueless and believe in a regime of murderers and live in a corrupted country. Man, what other country goes kicks people off the land they have lived on for years and paid for just to upgrade for and sell for profit. And if you see the quality of the manufacturing new buildings start falling apart after 2 years.
Ohh Mrs O you must be a neg head as you are on my left and 2 people on the right .

If you surrender to the purveyors of "project fear", yes. Conduct your own risk assessment as we ALL have done in life before Covid-19, and maybe you won't be.
