I fully understand the people that have underlying health issues and are genuinely scared. I respect their right to stay safe and avoid contact. I check several high risk boxes but....

The problem is the rest of the world. As someone married to a nurse and having a daughter that's also a nurse it's not a matter of if I was going to be exposed but when. It's that way for anyone that's around medical care professionals, teachers, store workers etc. It's just the way of the world once a disease breaks out. it's so contagious we'll all be exposed. It's been through my whole family and we were lucky no one got really sick or died. However, it's destroyed the wife and daughters jobs since the hospitals they worked for closed down for Covid Only and they layed off much of the staff. who knows when or if they snap back to full operations.

The damage to school age children's education and mental development will be much, much more devestating than the disease ever would have been. it will leave a scar on this generation that will take decades or maybe never overcome. Much like the great depression and WWII did for that generation. Almost criminal what the politicians will do to ensure their power and control. They have proven that they own us lock stock and barrel.

Only going to get worse. Supposedly they have bubuonic plague breaking out in China now. No need for testing on that one. You are dead before the test results come back.

Is that the disease from pigs? Man, they are closing the borders in my state from the rest of Australia as Covid19 has taken off big time.
They should round up all Chinese send them home and close all ties and borders with them.
I'm a Christian and believe God has had his say in china with the floods economy and now if it's true with the pig disease. Again I stress I don't blame the people of china and feel sorry for them as they are clueless and believe in a regime of murderers and live in a corrupted country. Man, what other country goes kicks people off the land they have lived on for years and paid for just to upgrade for and sell for profit. And if you see the quality of the manufacturing new buildings start falling apart after 2 years.
Ohh Mrs O you must be a neg head as you are on my left and 2 people on the right .

My own experience from my local community (whom it has to be said did a fantastic job following guidance). To many people of all ages lost their lives due to C-19 and I am not talking about bull**** statistics.

I think the guidance when communicated, followed and enforced correctly saved lives. I am and always will be someone that puts health before money.

If I had to live in a tent to have a healthy family, no problem. I wouldn't hesitate.

If I was wealthy and all my family were gone, I wouldnt see any benefit in that personally.
Whether you think the government response was good bad or indifferent the last few weeks have generally been accepted to have a sense of drift from the government (the opposition seems clueless too). The government seems paralysed by not wanting to be criticised in the media or elsewhere as opposed to taking a lead.

The opening of hospitality at the weekend (I am
Involved in that sector) being a good example. Was it really a good idea to reopen things as widely as it did on a Saturday after 14 weeks of nothing. The guidance to the sector was okay but not enough ministers speaking publically understood it or what it meant leading to confusion.

The challenge that is not being addressed is getting kids back to school and students back to university so that their education and future is not affected any further.

There are lots of lessons from those sectors which remained open (and developed protocols before the government) such as supermarkets where there is no suggestion of spikes amongst staff”.

Lockdown was hard for all of us but what is coming is going to be a lot harder for many more as life may never return to what it was for an awful lot of people.

About 8 million people are currently unemployed or furloughed - when furlough as it is changes many more are likely to be made redundant.

The world and the UK were changing anyway but what may have taken 4 or 5 years will happen in months.

All I can say is I hope as many of you as possible and your families are safe and well and that you fare well over the next 12 to 18 months.

Maybe more people will realise modern politicians and the modern media are charlatans and don’t have the answers but are part of the issue. Not hopeful though.

I would not attend any crowded venue in any country presently and I'm 56,so feel more at risk.
Crowds in areas like football, theatre & music events etc appear no go areas but Vegas & Russian casinos are open - crazy scenario regarding crowds.

Presently I'm hammering away on my laptop translating all night for clients in Vladivostok but I do miss travel and actual talking to folks face to face.
Vladimir Putin is hoping to coax gamblers away from Las Vegas with his new casino mecca complete with ski slopes, shopping centres, hotels and a marina I'm typing in various languages to 'earn my corn' this week.

The new complex on the eastern fringe of Siberia has a 1,500 acre state of art gambling area which can accommodate thousands a day.Would I go or attend business opportunities there ?

    No I wouldn't until it's safe.

Gamblers from across Asia and the West are being 'encouraged' to visit the venue in the Pacific capital of Vladivostok where temperatures drop to minus 20 degrees centigrade in winter so snow sports activities are been heavily pushed too.

Years ago in the 60's USSR Brezhnev met USA President Ford in Vladivostok (home to the Pacific Fleet) for talks and nowadays there are over six consulates, many HQ's of offices for Japanese television companies, a USA information service and more than 100 offices of foreign companies with about 600 joint ventures in Vladivostok - business opportunities a plenty in the city hub - but I'll not venture there or any mass urbanised area till all is safe for sure, despite being asked.

"until all is safe for sure". How is that nirvana ever to be achieved, (and I mean, ever)?

Not possible, not now, not in a hundred or a thousand years, never.

    Stunning views.

    interesting street snow sculptures.

evidently warm fully centrally heated ski chalets with an accommodating ski board instructor at hand too, apparently.

What more do you want comrade.

    Mrs O,

You may not have a choice on the "vaccine". I"m sure it will be presented as "optional" but if you can't travel, work, drive, bank, get medical care, have your children attend school, receive benefits for pensions/social security or go to any social event is it really optional?

The jack booted thugs don't really need to come to your door in the middle of the night and haul you off to some camp. They can just choke you out until you submit to their vaccine.

I'm sure the vaccine will be 100% safe with no tracing elements, no latentcy built in, no possible unintended side effects and will be safe for 100% of the population.... that is unless you are one of the 500 million that Bill Gates and his ilk think should remain on the planet. I'm sure they'll get some way out of taking it. Some people are more equal than others.

PS- Russia looks beautiful in the winter. I had no idea!

    Jack boots in UK ?

My eldest has an illness which I often mention and has required hospitalisation in the past.Usually the family is informed by English law but on one occasion Doctors bypassed this procedure which my daughter objected to and refused to go into a Psychiatric unit without Mum/Dads okay from France first.
This resulted in Police intervention to remove her against her will using two police vans and four police officers dragging her screaming down the stairs (all filmed by her brother who was present) then handcuffing her to a waiting stretcher of which was placed into an Ambulance and taken to a Leeds unit 26 miles away as all units were she lived in York were full.Once there she was taken to a room, restrained face down on a bed by 3 male staff and injected via a Doctor to knock her out.

Doctors claimed it was 'her welfare' - she disagreed and to this day felt 'wronged' at the rough hand tactics used and felt better practice methods should have been used.
She now helps folks in similar situations via the UK National OCD forum Helplines.
Her mental health today is much better and is now nearly off all medication, happy in France, missing her ER seat but now working p/t and is responsible for many of the photos on 'ere of me and is the reason for my vocal stances on the the UK NHS I air now and again and the reliance on medication due to costs against counselling methods that are not available within Mental Health budgets.

That's why I mentioned 'the vaccine initiative' personal concern point and use of it if/when available and freedom of choice.
