    Wigans 12 pts deduction *

Does anyone know why it wasn't deducted immediately , and now being applied End of Season ?
Fair play to the side , they have notched up some impressive wins of late , now looking virtually safe ?
However I feel they are going to be in a no lose situation , if and when they achieve retaining Championship status , they will take the 12pt hit next season , not a big deficit to claw back , have the 6/7 million paid to Championship clubs , and maybe cleared of any outstanding debts or loans ??
If the 12 pts had been deducted immediately , that would have possibly effected their performances , added pressure to their games too,
I think they will stay up quite easily , but the punishment won't fit the crime IMO,
Derby, Wednesday , Reading will all get off scot free , as it appears their cases of FFP have been swept under the carpet ,
EFL are an absolute disgrace ,

If by playing art this season normally they finished in the bottom three (not gooina happen on 53pts nar) they couldn't deduct it this season or the'd get relegated just the same but by 12 less points and itted ev no effect really so it will be put onto next season in Third Division starting on -12.

The 12 pt deduction, in effect, ez been applied this season cos Wigan on 53 pts nar, are not going to finish by playing games in the bottom three.
Tha can, in thi mind, tek 12 pts off the 53 leaving them bottom on 41 pts. They ev left it till end of season to allow time for the result of any appeal, which ez happened. If the appeal is unsuccessful the 12 pt penalty comes in at the end of the season. To save themselves on the pitch Wigan evvto finish fourth bottom after the 12 pts ev been deducted.

The short answer is to leave time for any appeal process.

A carn't remember either. Darn to ITV Digital collapse.2002
A carn't even remember if it relegated us.

Two years earlier we were in the Play Off Final at Wembley, one game away from the Premiership. We could well be joining the winners Ipswich in the Third Division next season.

    Part of the EFL statement

“If in the event the Club is relegated by virtue of their final position following the conclusion of the Championship season, then the deduction will apply in League One in 2020/21.

"However, if the Club is not in the relegation places following the final game of season, the sanction will be then be applied to their season 2019/20 total and final league standings amended as appropriate.
