Not sure if I was being over sensitive today, but I couldn’t help but notice that in the commentary (in the USA, but by British commentators/pundits) that Jack’s England WC win in 1966 along with his management career (Ireland and the odd stints he did at other clubs) were mentioned, but there was no reference to his playing career at Leeds.

One club man? Record appearances? No mention?

Annoyed me no end, but this thread is about Jack.

There are some very good podcasts from the weekend where the mentioned his whole career and where a lot of people recalled fond memories of the big man. The BBC one was quite good.

Suspect for many beyond Leeds their most recent or possibly only memories are of him
managing Ireland where he became a national/international treasure.

I guess it just shows how much he achieved.

I guess, but I would suggest his managerial stints at Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday and Boro were very small potatoes compared to his playing career and footballing achievements beyond the World Cup.

    Anyway, back to Jack!

I’ll wind my neck back in. Jack’s Leeds career was mentioned before the minute’s silence before today’s game between Manchester United and Southampton.

Love that image of him smoking a tab in his Leeds kit.

    RIP again Big Jack.

An English man loved by the Irish that says all about this giant of a man.

That is one of my favourite ones too. Also the one when he was a mere bairn and had just signed for Leeds.

Graeme Souness said if he hadn’t met Jack at Boro he doesn’t think he would have become the player he did. Sounds like Big Jack has the same talk Revie has with him.

Wherever he is now hope the Guinness is cold and smooth and the fish are biting!

That made me smile - also like the one of him jogging with Don Revie and the rest of the squad.
