    And whenever drinking in Ireland he’d always pay his bar tab by cheque knowing that the landlord would usually frame it rather than ban it.

    I think he was a very modest guy watching some old clips he wasn’t just a stopper he was very good at bringing the ball forwards and bagged more goals than your average centre half normally does and yet he didn’t make his England debut I think until he was almost 30 - great player in his day

    Rough & ready ask David Bentley. I was there cup game at Millmoor. Effective though Jackie Charlton's no-nonsense defensive approach. R I P
