If the story is true that someone bought them, in order to get them relegated due betting purposes, then it'll be poetic justice.

Not only will they have lost the money purchasing the club, they will have lost the money on the bet also and maybe will have upset some nasty people in other parts of the world.

Unfortunately, Wigan didn't quite make it.

But, now there's potentially another headache for the EFL, what happens if Wigan successfully appeal their 12 point deduction, will Barnsley then take legal action, will the championship have 25 teams next season?

I'm not sure how you can appeal against an absolute rule, but stranger things have happened

Completely agree...something to do with a ‘force majeure’ apparently, but you’re more likely to understand such legalistic terminology.
I have no idea and, as you say, it’s an ‘absolute rule’...go into administration and you know the price.

But, are Wigan arguing that they have been victims of a betting scam, which was passed by the EFL?

What you mean...the EFL approving something and then discovering they shouldn’t have? Nothing at all like our case there then.

Apparently costing Wigan £500,000 to make their appeal that's win or lose. Hearing 31st July hope they win
