Motherwell concede four in Ibrox friendly

Motherwell were well beaten in Wednesday's friendly at Ibrox but the players will have benefitted from the tough workout - External Link

Totally well beaten season doesn’t look so optimistic. We have to start playing our strongest eleven from the start and get them used to playing in a settled team and formation. Yes we are probably about a week off of full pelt but the basics just weren’t there, couldn’t pass ball 10 yards, failing to track back, Mark opponent at set pieces. Thank goodness it was just a friendly, but don’t understand our tactics last night because no doubt in our league games against THEM we will play without doubt with two banks of four and ask them to break us down. I already fear for our discipline and suspensions as one or two will need to watch how they time their tackles, Donnelly in particular

Maybe, just maybe, we don't know our best/preferred formation yet. Its a bit concerning that, although the new season kicks off on 1 August Rangers seemed far fitter than we did. Why?

Possibly because they started 2 weeks ahead of us in terms of 'pre-season' training and have already played 4 bounce games?

Undoubtedly you're right. Although we don't play them next weekend, its likely that they'll be far fitter than us come the 1st league game.

Or maybe we'll be just as fit as them come August 3.

Tomorrow a better indicator for the season but tbh we've seen both great and terrible preseasons which have had no indication of what's to come.
