Birmingham City retire shirt of 17 year old who's made 44 appearances

Bit odd to say the least.

I thought shirts were retired when players either die or have been there years and have become club legends?

Worn 44 times. Maybe it's never been washed and they think it's time to buy a new one.

I don't think Birmingham really meant to say they were retiring the shirt. It was just some official being button-holed by a reporter and making an off the cuff remark

Been at Brum since he was 9 years old so a fair bit of service. Could quite possibly become a very famous world class player. At a guess that's why they might have retired the shirt.

A millionaire before he turns 18. So much for the post-covid clampdown on wages.
