    Charlton next

To follow Bury? Reports of collapse of new owners and former much hated Belgian owner resuming a measure of control and planning to develop ground..... Never have liked them but seen the Rams there many a time. Another sign of the Times I fear, how many more?

In the same way as Bury - and possibly before long, Oldham Athletic, Rochdale, Macclesfield Town and Wigan - are threatened by the abundance of leading Premier League and successful Championship Clubs in the NW, isn’t this just the London equivalent?
There are five - soon to be six in all probability - top flight clubs in the capital and a number of Championship rivals. Suppose something has to give...pity it isn’t Millwall.
Makes you realise how lucky we are to have so little in the way of geographical competition...only really Leicester and that Trent side club...Stoke City, although I do have a fondness for Notts County.

No idea why that’s appeared twice...apologies.

6K capacity, 3K average. Run on a shoestring and the Chairman keeps a tight rein on expenditure. They'll be OK where they are IMO.

Oops...sorry, MA. You’re right, competition from two Trent side outfits then...although Stoke is about 35 miles away.

Seriously though, Ben Robinson appears to understand Burton’s limitations/realistic aspirations and ‘cuts his cloth’ accordingly. Love to see them do well under Jake.

Similar but not the same. Charlton fans had wanted the Belgian ownership changed for several years - remember all the protests and boycotting by the fans which drove the Belgian owner to sell at the start of the year. But he kept the ground and training facilities and leased back to club under the new owners

Out of the frying pan into the fire it seems as the two partners in the new ownership fell out and one was booted out. The money man stayed but cut all funding and then now it seems he has sold out to another new owner. But none of these new ownerships have been approved by EFL still.

So not really a "competition for fanbase in London" issue, but rather a total buggers muddle of who owns it/who fubds it. A lot like what I believe Wigan have on their plate, but the club has not yet gone into administration: but I wouldnt bet against it

Hopefully Wigan's 12 points deduction will remain in place. With -12 points deduction for next season just for spite.

Personally I hope Wigan win their appeal, get the points back and thus relegate Barnsley, just for spite
