Mista, you forgot Blackpool Rock. ..................

You seem to miss my purpose...... appealing to a wide range of music tastes rather than just the one and changing from soul to rock isn't a move I'd make.

...... unless of course the post was a long winded attempt at amusement

    Blackpool Rick
    Ayers Rock
    Alum Rock

The more traditional C&W singers I’m inclined to agree about.
On the other hand closely related genres such as Country Rock and Alternative Country have provided some excellent songs, lyrics and singers.
My current favourite (introduced via Andy) is Jason Isbell (try ‘South Eastern’...glorious) and there’s an LA Country Rock band who I met a couple of years ago called Feed the Kitty...good stuff. Never forget Gram Parsons, selected Byrds stuff and even a little bit of First Aid Kit.
All wonderful and never irritatingly ‘whiny’.

Maybe it's just the more stuff that's whiny then

Shame on you, mistaram. Why haven't you included rock against racism? You should repent by blacking up and raising a clenched fist. Maybe take the kneel to look holier than thou or better still throw a few bricks and demolish statues to show your support for black lives better.

By the way, which category do Mostly Autumn come under? Little known band but sensational live concerts.

Try Johnny Rebel - definitely not whiny! Sounds rather like he would appeal to Gunteryy

On the subject of music, though not Country...at the end of the Third Test round up on Sky on Tuesday the highlights were shown against a ‘stripped down’ piano and vocals version of Here Comes the Sun. Brilliant cover, imo, but I’ve no idea who it was. Anyone know?

I didn’t hear it but are you sure it wasn’t The Beatles?

It was a 1985 version by French acoustic singer Voltaire's Flame
