Pawlett has started every game of pre-season. Got to be a shoe in to start. Too soon for Bolton imo.

    Tombola selection:

    Siegrist
    Smith Connolly Reynolds Robson
    Pawlett Butcher Harkes Appere
    Clark Shankland

There's an in the know kind of rumour on EF that the young lad Neilson is starting today, make of it what you will. Personally I think your line up is probably our strongest although Powers has been playing well in pre-season I hear.

Given who it's came from, I'd be inclined to believe it.

So Neilson in a back 3 then? Interesting.

Interesting. I'm not clued up on the youth teams as i used to be so could some one fill me in on what Neilson is like? i know on Dode fox podcast they said something about him being a big laddie but thats about it. i thought the boy Ross Graham was meant to be the next in line to get his chance?

    I would stick

Yeah I figured he seemed a trusted source. Possibly one of the Mark's not playing and could still be a back four?

Being a critic of Pawlett last season, which was more down to how we played him rather than him and his efforts I am hoping he kicks on this season but to be honest the only way i see that happening is if we switch to the somewhat controversial 4231 formation that seems to divide opinion on here. Personally I think we have the personel for that more than 442 at the moment and would go either

    Benji
    Smith Butcher Reynolds Robson
    Harkes Powers
    Bolton Clark Appere
    Shanks

Pawlett/Smith for me can move in to the 3 behind Shankland but I still think both of them would be better in the middle of the 3

    Or

    Benji
    Smith Connolly Reynolds Robson
    Bolton Harkes Butcher Apperre
    Shanks Clark

In this, i see no position for Pawlett/Smith and would rather look at others like Mochrie etc
