You need new specs or a memory cell.

    I think they can.

"If the government prepares for a tsunami that never arrives, it can end up using language that scares people away from using hospitals and seeking care. Then you end up with what we had last time: 40,000 empty NHS beds at the peak of the virus and many of those who would otherwise be treated dying at home. Not that this is discussed much in Covid strategy meetings. Sage, SPI-M and the Joint Biosecurity Centre — which all shape the Covid strategy — are focused only on the virus. There is no equivalent group calculating the harm done by lockdown: the cancer deaths, mental health caseload and the loss of life that always accompanies economic crashes. During the 2009 swine flu outbreak, the ‘reasonable worse-case scenario’ from Sage envisaged 65,000 deaths. There was no lockdown. Just 457 died."

Yes OC. It is now the norm for some people to follow trumps lead, stick their fingers in their ears and shout, "Fake News!" when evidence emerges that debunks their opinion.

They think that all they have to do is to shout "Fake News" often enough and they win the argument.

    The pandemic is real.
Lots of people are catching covid and dying from it.
Governments around the world are struggling to contain it. They are trying many things, some work better than others, but they are genuinely trying to contain the virus.
They would much prefer that things were different and we returned to the pre-pandemic situation.
They are not trying to use it as an excuse to control the whole of the human population for some unknown reason.

But, such is the way of the modern world, conspiracy theories are constantly surfacing. For instance, Trump never had covid, he just used it as an electioneering tool.

I'll continue to listen to the "experts". This is still a new virus and they are constantly playing catch up as more facts about it emerge, therefore their advice can be expected to be subject to regular tweaks.
But if you don't listen to the "experts" then who do you take notice of? An unknown bloke on the internet? Donald Trump? Lots of people do, and that is worrying.

Totally agree with you 59-60, I am no scientist and will continue to follow the given advice of those who know better than me. That would never include Donald Trump, if he told me it was dark at midnight I would still have to go outside and look for myself to be sure.

We do not think too much about 'the Don'? But what has he done in the middle east? 70 or more years of conflict ,the 3 no's from Khartoum, ''No peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiations with Israel. (August 1967)since then ............a cold peace .and then along came the Don,smooth talking Don, he came to ''all you beautiful people!'' The UAR , Bahrain and Sudan ,and soon 5 more .....that sweet smooth, talking Don! I thought the Brits were 'giving credit to where credit is due ?Understand the activity .

Iran is the defining issue of our time — and it defines the Joe Biden. It is an absolute travesty that Joe Biden seeks to rejoin the Iran Nuclear Deal. He wants to resume the appeasement of a brutal tyranny which unites its followers to chants of “death to America.” This deal paves Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon and funds its terrorism and murder. Biden’s position is dangerous - the Obama Administration’s activities were treasonous.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is a brutal, murderous theocracy and the greatest state sponsor of terrorism in the world. The Supreme Leader has vowed repeatedly to “wipe Israel off the map” and recently distributed posters referring to another “final solution”. He unites his followers to chants of “death to America” and “death to Israel.” Iran has one of the worst human rights records in the world. Gays are hung in centre squares, a practice justified by Foreign Minister Javad Zarif (John Kerry’s buddy). Women have been stoned and they are arrested and tortured by the morality police for refusing to wear the hijab. Political opponents and religious and ethnic minorities and those seeking freedom of speech and assembly are routinely arrested, tortured and executed. The so-called “justice” system is known for its lack of due process and forced confessions.

Iran’s widespread and incessant terror activity includes the holding of American hostages in 1979; the 1983 marine barracks bombing; the AMIA bombing in Argentina; the Burgas bus bombing in Bulgaria - and perhaps most infamously —providing “direct and material assistance” to al Qaeda in connection with the 9/11 attack on the American homeland. Iran has provided financial assistance, weapons and training to numerous terror groups including Hezbollah in Lebanon, Islamic Jihad and Hamas in Gaza and the Houthis in Yemen. This terror activity continued throughout the negotiations of the Iran Deal — as well as in its immediate aftermath - and continues through today including a recent attempt in Washington DC.

By any standard of objectivity and common decency the Obama Administration’s Iran Nuclear Deal (the “JCPOA” Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action ) is fundamentally flawed and morally repugnant. President Trump withdrew from the accord and is waging an effective “maximum pressure campaign to increased sanctions and reduced funding for Iran’s malign activities. The Trump Administration has regained leverage to negotiate an effective and more comprehensive deal or, in the alternative, to accelerate the overthrow of this brutal tyranny by freedom-seeking Iranians. In what seemed to be a contravention of the Logan Act, John Kerry and others on the Obama-Biden team met several times with top officials in the Iranian regime in an apparent effort to undermine President Trump’s foreign policy.

The late and great Charles Krauthammer called the JCPOA “an epic capitulation” and the worst deal in US diplomatic history.

“In pursuit of his desire to make the Islamic Republic into an accepted, normalised “successful regional power,” Obama decided to take over the nuclear negotiations. At the time, Tehran was reeling — the rial plunging, inflation skyrocketing, the economy contracting — under a regime of international sanctions painstakingly constructed over a decade.
Then, instead of welcoming Congress’ attempt to tighten sanctions to increase the pressure on the mullahs, Obama began the negotiations by loosening sanctions, injecting billions into the Iranian economy (which began growing again). It’s been downhill ever since.

But wait - it gets worse. Not only did the Obama Administration fail to address Iran’s atrocious conduct as part of the negotiations — it agreed to sanctions relief yielding an upfront payment of $150 billion and even acknowledged that some of that money would be used to fund terrorism. President Obama sent a plane to Tehran loaded with $400 million in Swiss francs, euros and other currencies on the same day Iran released four American hostages, followed by two more secret flights carrying another $1.3 billion in cash. The Obama-Biden team even went so far as to try to help Iran use U.S. banks to convert $5.7 billion in Iranian assets, after promising Congress that Iran would not get access to the U.S. financial system — and then lied about it to Congress.

STOP IRAN NOW URGE ALL AMERICANS TO RUN TO THE POLLS TO REELECT PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP!!!!
