Either incarnation and whilst every ones taste is different, ground breaking, innovative and varied Quo or their "music" certainly weren't. Music for those with a full frontal lobotomy IMO!

Solo in Amsterdam. Commodores in my early 20s, can't remember where.

The party I went with (Rotterdam 1985) all went to see U2. I was there for the support act. The support act was brilliant. My companions all enjoyed U2. I thought they were awful. I told them exactly what was wrong.... the Edge playing under a blood red sky when the rest of the band was playing a totally different song. Drummer off his tree and therefore poor and other criticisms. The following Thursday, 'er indoors bought a copy of the "Nieuw Revu" to see what critique/praise there was for U2s performance. I could have written it but didn't. All my criticism was there in black and white. I did hear from someone who was at the 2nd concert the day after that they had been very good.... my experience is one I wouldn't wish to repeat.

In my defence Swale, I was but 14. I'd competed at Nottingham Regatta and we'd all stayed over for the evening's entertainment and it turned out to be Mud who'd just had a hit with "Up the airy mountain". Despite Mud, we enjoyed our evening. Our friends at Nottingham & Union Boat Club informed us that Quo would be appearing a few weeks later and said if we wanted to pop back (Notts is only half an hour on the train....) they'd ensure we got tickets. It was their "Matchstickmen" period. We went back and had a good night out as we usually did. Never had the desire to see either group a 2nd time though.....................

Your forgiven Ma! I put Quo in the category if I was out having a night out with friends and my brain was suitably enhanced then fine but to go and listen to? Really? To listen to at home really?

Have to agree Swales it must have taken at least ten minutes to learn the only two chords they could play for thirty years .

MA matchstickmen was a great record But they then altered and repeatedly turned out the same boring tunes over and over .But they were highly successful so a lot of people liked them
