They peaked in 1968 with ‘Pictures of Matchstick Men’ imo. Been downhill ever since and I wouldn’t admit to having seen them even if I had, which I haven’t...honest!

Never had any doubt about your taste in music rA and as for them being popular, as the late great Frank Zappa said, "most people wouldn't recognise good music if it came up and bit them on the ass"

Ah, some disdain for the Quo, standard. None of the listed artists push any musical boundaries, all simple stuff really. Status Quo are just as musically talented as any others on that list. Everyone is an art critic as they say.

Not at all ashamed to say I was a fan back in the Frantic Four days, ironic footy fans not liking them because Quo crowds always felt like footy crowds to me, same for Streetwalkers and Rush on their first two tours. Fave song? Rain

Mm musically talented is not something I associate with Quo, they were good at what they do, but then what they did wasn't that good. Its not a question of being an art critic, though I accept that everyones taste is different, its just they were musically very limited, which is a fact as any analysis of their "songs" reveals.

As for the others on that list, yup some very dubious ones on there, but also some genuis's.

    And yes there

It's your opinion that you consider it uninspiring musically, which is totally valid and if anyone tells you otherwise, they are wrong. If you want to discuss musicality from a practical and theoretical perspective though, more than happy to engage.

Ultimately, music is highly subjective and in the ears of the beholder. 5 note simple melodies are god-like when played by Clapton, yet when the Quo play the blues it's a lack of talent. Double standards?
