It seems that he was determined to leave. Whether some other club has offered him a better deal we will find out soon. If we’d got promoted I think he would have stayed. Anyway he’s gone and there were some nice parting words -

Big Mike was the second to leave in the last week, with goalkeeper Erwin Mulder having already departed for Heerenveen, both out of contract.
Well some positive news, one of the many out of contract players, Wayne Routledge, has signed for another year.
Not sure how much he’ll play though as he’s lost some of his pace.

No word on Naughton and Dyer yet, Dyer hardly played last season.
Just signed -

Korey Smith:
"I am delighted to be here. From the moment the club knew I was available the manager was on the phone to me, he showed me the project and was really keen to get me through the door.
He told me all about the place, the fans and the stadium. I am really excited to get going.
The club showed how much they wanted me, there was no messing around."
Freddie also delighted:

We’ve made a bid for Wigan’s Jamal Lowe, 27 year old winger, reported to be 750k. He still has 2 years left on his contract but with Wigan in administration and dropping down to League One they’ll be desperate for cash. Prolific scorer for his last club Portsmouth, he scored 6 goals for Wigan last season.
Why we need a winger when we played with wing backs and a back three in the latter part of the season I don’t know. I hope he doesn’t revert to a conventional back four again as we did well with the back three.
We’ve drawn Newport County away in the Carabao Cup, which was the old League Cup. The match is scheduled for Sat 5th Sept, less than 3 weeks away. Tricky tie with Newport so good in the Cup games.
